Policies in the healthcare system lay the groundwork for providing the best possible care and holding up an entire healthcare system together by streamlining and standardising the operational processes of various healthcare systems and allowing them to run smoothly. Also, policy is important to bring about and sustain comprehensive change in the system.

Therefore, the robustness of the emergency care system can be achieved by strengthening policies at local, regional, and global scale.

WHO CCET, SEAR have been working closely with the leading stakeholders and organizations across the region to identify policy issues, evolve a shared vision of regional and national development priorities, sectors and strategies in the sector of Health & Family Welfare for strengthening emergency and trauma care policies at primary, secondary and tertiary care level.

Engagement with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (GOI), National Health Mission, NITI Aayog, World Health Organization – SEARO, World Health Organization – India, WHO Collaborating Centre for Trauma & Injury – Khon Kaen Hospital (Thailand), Ministry of Health – Sri Lanka, Ministry of Health – Nepal are examples of fostering policy change.
